I hadn't planned on fishing today...It was not until well after midnight that I made the call and scrambled to get my gear in order. A few hours of sleep and I'm on a river all to myself. Well for a little bit anyways. It was nice while it lasted...
The fishin was tough but once again persistence paid off. The river is in beautiful shape. Today I lost feeling in my feet for the first time this year. I had forgotten just how painful that feels when they start to thaw out. I must fix those leaks!

What happened to "I have stuff to do and am going to spend time with the family"? Friggin junky LOL!!!
Damn Weather Network! Forecast was too tempting to pass up and those voices...those stupid voices...
Hey...I email you! I think it was about 12:30 am or so. Didn't you get it ;0)
You have a problem ...and are a POS.
Doesn't surprise me though....
I could see that look in your eyes towards the end of the last trip and you should never end a trip with a tangle.
I am turning the corner on this cold and should be ready to roll Midweek.
LOL!! Words of wisdom.
Tangle free today and the big stick never felt better. I was in the zone today. I hadn't been there for the last couple of outings but today it was all good. I just thought there would have been a few more players around. :o.
:o.
You are the epitomy of 'hard core' my friend. I have been away from the river for a few weeks now and have somewhat lost the desire - I need to get out again ... soon!!!
I hear ya on the wader leaks - not so bad if you move around a lot but I got tired of fixing my old Simms so I went out and bought some new ones :(
so what's the verdict on the Stanton??? notice much of a difference from the old version?? she looks pretty sweet!!
Harv
"Hard Core" ? I don't know...perhaps "Obsessive Compulsive" LOL!
I am too cheap to bite the bullet on new waders just yet. I'm still sitting on the fence over a wading jacket.
I am liking the new Stanton more and more each outing. I opted for a 5" model and I'm finding it is best suited to the 15'r. I do need to get a better mainline as the crap I have on it right now is far too thick and memory forming for my liking. I was really diggin the reel this particular morning. The startup is surprising and the clicker is strong. The asthetics are top notch! It is definately a top shelf pin option. A little on the heavy side but as you know I fish long and hard and don't seem to have an issue with it. Also the momentum gained by the weight is a added bonus for the big water peeps aiding in line retrieval.
We will have to get out soon!
The second shot is great, high grass can act as a "hands free" water cradle, at least you were wise about the reel placement, mine is usually "summerged" as Chef Emeril Lagasse's would say....
I plan on getting out over the next while, just so I can say 'it was freezing' and 'I caught nothing'.
Well Done,
Free-Hair.
Thanks Joe. I tend to make mental note this time of the year in regards to keeping the pins out of the water. Sometimes it can't be avoided but with the new quick release spool on the Stanton a freeze up could easily be remedied.
You know what? There are greater powers at work trying to tell us something when our reels freeze solid. Perhaps we should accept the warning. ;0)
