With ridiculous work commitments for the month of September and October I decided to get the boys together for a preemptive Salmon strike on the West side. The efforts proved to be more an appreciation of good food, drink, weather and company than the typical extreme fishing assault. To say we struggled to put the Kings in the boat would be an understatement but we did see countless numbers of fish on the move. The run is in it's infancy on the big river.
The trip was healing and filled with laughs. The highlight would have been the twin Hyde trip down the big river on Friday followed by the evening trip to Traverse on Saturday for dinner and beverages. It's a tough life but someone has to do it. ;0) It saddens me to report I'm on the hook at work for the next couple of months but when I return it will be full on Steelhead season. Can't wait...

Sounds like a great time - I wish I could have joined you guys.
I too am on the hook for a pretty busy September at work but after that I have a fair bit of time in the bank which will hopefully be used up as time well spent on a river somewhere....
Hot cArl
No trip to Michigan for me. Blew out a brake line on the Labor day weekend. Almost rear ended a truck but I got lucky and swerved into the shoulder lane. Brake line turned into replace that, two wheel cylinders and two rear drums. Oh btw the way replaced all four shocks as they were toast. Hate to imagine what I would be paying at a shop for all of that work.....yikes.
On a good note, steelhead are being caught off the Conneaut breakwall and there's rain for tonight with temps in the 50s for Thursday and Friday. Time to hit the crick.
Greg,
Ouch! On the bright side...you should be good to go for a while.
Chromers on the Connie already eh? Geesh. Go get em brother!
Work has be screwed for a while but I do have to escape for at least one or two whirl wind tours to the cabin and the river.
I hope... :0,
